Geneva and Ben
lived next door to me in an apartment complex.
Id meet most of the family
From the Bitter Water Clan, and a few from
Yucca Strung Out on a Line Clan.
Bitter Water was Geneva's side of the family.
Even though they were living in an one bedroom
apartment several relatives would come stay
with them months at a time. They had no phone so
everybody used mine.
Geneva came to me with all complaints about her relatives,
and when she said something I found hard to believe,
and I said "what?"
She would repeat it ....louder.
We would pass coming and going to work,
When I would work Graveyard and she the Early,
She would say ,"Hurry to bed, before the Sun sees you"
She made frequent trips to Gallup, New Mexico,
Family was on the Res there.
So when she and Ben returned one day
I did not think anything was wrong until I saw her face,
She hid from me for several weeks.
When she finally spoke, she unfolded the tale of her
brother,
who was younger than she.
He had a government grant to go
to school, he was a newlywed with a child on the way.
They had moved into a new home, small cottage on the Navajo
Reservation.
Why did he shoot himself in a junked out car....?
She did not know....Some say he had been drinking a lot,
and there had been a number of fights between himself and his new
bride.
No one touches the now blood spattered junked out Chevy, or
even goes
near....
Cant seal it up like a Hogan, with the Evil Spirits inside.
No one will forget. All will send a prayer when they pass.
Geneva did not tell me the fate of the bride and unborn child.
